Elton John: Married to David Furnish for a Decade

Elton John (77) and David Furnish (62) are celebrating a milestone in their marriage. The English superstar and the Canadian film producer have been married for ten years now. The two of them are celebrating their anniversary. They posted on their Instagram accounts. They simply wish each other a “happy anniversary for us.” There is also a heart emoji and a rocket – a reference to Elton John’s signature hit “Rocket Man”.

In the accompanying picture, the anniversaries beam into the camera. The photo was apparently taken in warmer climates. Both are wearing sunglasses, David Furnish is wearing a short-sleeved shirt.

Elton John and David Furnish were married on December 21, 2014 at their Windsor estate. The appointment was no coincidence. Because exactly nine years earlier, on December 21, 2005, the two had entered into a registered partnership. This was the first time this was legally possible in Great Britain on this date. Nine years later they were able to convert the registered partnership into a marriage.

Elton John and David Furnish met at a mutual friend’s party in 1993. Just one day later they went on their first date together. In May 2005, John proposed to his partner at a dinner party with family and friends.

Their son Zachary was also born in December, namely on the 25th of 2010. Elijah followed in January 2013, who was carried by the same surrogate mother as Zachary.
