The documentary recounts Pope Francis’ visit to Portugal during World Youth Day Lisbon 2023 and his participation in the creation of the “most extensive and diverse work of collective art in the world.”

Aldeas Scholas Filmsthe audiovisual production company of the international movement Scholas Occurrentes, founded by Pope Francis in 2013, presented his debut feature film “Vida entre Mundos” for the first time in Argentina. The screening took place on Wednesday, December 18 at 7 p.m. in the Lugones Room of the San Martín Theater.

Young people from the Scholas communities in Argentina were present, among which the representatives of San Antonio de los Cobres stand out, who have been fighting youth suicide through cinema for eight years. In addition, different actors from the political and business world who accompany the Scholas Occurrentes movement in Argentina participated.

The film, written and directed by Ezequiel del Corral and Teresa Leveratto, had its international premiere in Rome last March, and has already been recognized by the ENAV Foundation with the support of the Lazio Region within the framework of the Rome International Film Festival, and by the prestigious Camerimage International Film Festival in Toru, Poland, where it was screened with the support of the 5P Europe Foundation, with a colloquium from which acclaimed cinematographer Salvatore Totino participated.

The documentary recounts Pope Francis’ visit to Portugal during World Youth Day Lisbon 2023 and his participation in the creation of the “most extensive and diverse work of collective art in the world.”which Francis himself defined as “the Sistine Chapel of young people.” “Life between Worlds” was able to bring together different generations, origins and beliefs of the same community and become an ode to humanity, teaching with its poetic sound and visually our responsibility to look face to face at our own chaos, to encounter the life around us and give meaning to our existence.

Aldeas Scholas Films is the film project of Scholas Occurrentes, the global educational movement founded by Pope Francis. Its mission is to teach and celebrate human existence and its cultural diversity, through documentary and fictional narratives that transcend the screen. Inspired by a phrase by Leo Tolstoy that is one of Pope Francis’ favorites, “Paint your village and you will paint the world”, The production company seeks to unite great figures of international cinema with small local communities to tell stories that challenge cultural homogenization and, from singularities, generate a new universal story.

“Life between Worlds” It is the first step of Aldeas towards this vision, which in the words of His Holiness, forms “[…] an extremely poetic and very constructive project because it goes to the roots of what human life is, human sociability, human conflicts… the essence of life’s journey.”
