Christopher Nolan is filming Homer’s Odyssey
It has been clear for some time that Christopher Nolan’s new film will have a top cast. Now Universal is announcing what the new project is about.
In his next project, director Christopher Nolan adapts the ancient poem “Odyssey” by Homer. The new film will be a “mythical action epic,” as Universal Pictures announced on X. Filming locations are spread all over the world. The 54-year-old’s film (“Oppenheimer”, “Interstellar”) will be released in cinemas worldwide on July 17, 2026.
According to Universal, the filming is done using IMAX technology, which enables particularly high resolution. It has already been clear in the past few weeks that the project has a star cast: According to industry publications such as “Deadline” and “Variety”, it includes Matt Damon, Charlize Theron, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o and Robert Pattinson .
The “Odyssey” tells of the adventurous journey home of King Odysseus of Ithaca from the Trojan War, during which he faces numerous dangers and at the end of which he arrives home with his wife Penelope.
