The National Road Safety Agency (ANSV) carried out 65 operations throughout the country where more than 6,000 cars were inspected and almost 200 drivers were penalized for testing positive for alcohol during the Christmas Eve and Christmas celebrations.
With the objective of preventing road accidents, 6,216 vehicles were inspected and 210 drivers were sanctioned, of which 159 were due to positive blood alcohol level and another 32 due to lack of documentation. There were 152 driver’s licenses withheld.
“These massive controls, framed in a federal operation, aimed to prevent road accidents and raise awareness about responsible driving,” they expressed from the ANSV.
As reported by the authoritiesthe controls were carried out mostly in the early morning and will continue throughout Wednesday in search of “discouraging the consumption of alcohol while driving during one of the most important festive dates of the year.”
At the same time, they also inspected the regulatory documentation for driving, the use of seat belts and child seats, as well as the use of helmets among motorcyclists.
The result of the operations: higher blood alcohol levels
On the Riccheri Highway, in Buenos Aires, a driver gave 2.69 g/l of alcohol in his blood. Then in Reconquista, Santa Fe, another person gave 2.20 g/l. In the coastal area, in Pinamar, a positive was detected with 2.18 g/l and in Mar del Plata a person with 2.09 g/l.

Inspection posts in the country
One of the controls took place on the Riccheri Highway and on the Atlantic Coast, especially in Villa Gesell, Pinamar, San Bernardo and San Clemente.
There were also operations in Patagonia. They occurred in the cities that cross National Route 40, such as, for example, Bariloche and Villa La Angostura. The RN237 is also added at the height of Piedra del Águila.
In Cuyo, procedures were carried out in San Luis, Mendoza and San Juan. In the NEA there were inspections in Misiones, Corrientes and Chaco. Finally, in NOA they happened in Salta, Santiago del Estero, Catamarca and Tucumán.
“These operations, which will be replicated during the night and early morning of New Year’s, reinforce the importance of maintaining federal controls that combine inspection and awarenessfundamental elements to reduce the impact of road accidents in the country,” they added.
