Prince Louis and Charlotte collect presents at the Christmas service

Church service at Sandringham
Prince George, Charlotte and Louis show that they are the new generation of royals

On Christmas Day, the British royal family walked to the church service like every year. But Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis stole the show.

In an elegant green coat with a matching hat, the wife of heir to the throne Prince William, Princess Kate, appeared alongside her husband and their three children. Her smile beamed, as did the joy of the onlookers who had gathered at the royal estate of Sandringham in eastern England. This was a moving appearance for Kate: just a few weeks ago, in September, she completed chemotherapy, and her public appearance was seen by many as a sign of strength and confidence.

The fans, some of whom had been waiting since the evening before, greeted the Royals with cheers and applause. For many, the royal Christmas service is not only a fixed item on the program, but also a matter of the heart. Also because the Royals usually always make time for their fans at Christmas.

Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte were particularly happy to receive gifts

Same this year. Above all, the littlest royals, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, did their walkabout with the waiting people with a lot of dedication. There were gifts from one or two fans.

Christmas in Sandringham is more than just a family celebration for the British royals. It is a tradition deeply rooted in its history. The royals exchange gifts on Christmas Eve – a custom that goes back to their German roots.

Royal gifts

Prince William once gave his wife Kate a terrible gift

During the church service, classics such as the national anthem and the Christmas carol “O Come All Ye Faithful” were played. In addition to King Charles and Queen Camilla, Princess Anne and Prince Edward and his wife Duchess Sophie were also present.

However, one face was missing: Prince Andrew, who was once considered part of the nuclear family, stayed away from the service. He recently came under criticism again because of his closeness to a suspected Chinese spy – another low point after the abuse allegations and his connection to the late US millionaire Jeffrey Epstein.

But the splendor of Christmas at Sandringham remained undimmed. The royal walk showed that despite all the turmoil, the Windsors offer one constant: tradition, style and the magic that has surrounded the British monarchy for centuries.
