Helene Fischer and Reinhard Mey release a duet

Reinhard Mey is celebrating his TV comeback after more than 25 years on the “Helene Fischer Show” – including a duet with the host. However, this didn’t boost the show’s ratings.

The music stars Helene Fischer (40) and Reinhard Mey (82) have released a joint single: the duet “We”. Mey first released the song on his album “farben” in 1990.

The two performed the duet on the “Helene Fischer Show”. Mey was seen on a TV show for the first time in over 25 years, as ZDF reported. A television comeback that thrilled many viewers.

ZDF traditionally shows “The Helene Fischer Show” on December 25th. Fischer’s ex-partner Florian Silbereisen, among others, also appeared in the show, which was recorded at the beginning of the month.

The 40-year-old show host was very touched by Mey’s appearance on the show. “It is a very special moment for me personally because a very big wish of mine is coming true,” she said before announcing the “legendary and great Reinhard Mey.”

The songwriter sang “You can fly” from his album “Nach Haus”, which was released in 2024. The audience responded with a standing ovation. Later in the show, the two performed “We”.

Helene Fischer’s ratings are lower than ever

However, the show’s TV ratings have fallen noticeably compared to the previous year. An average of 3.61 people tuned in. In 2023 there were 5.02 million. “Helene Fischer Show reaches fewer fans than ever before,” writes the industry service “DWDL”.

But despite a declining number of television viewers, Fischer was still the ratings winner. The RTL show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” was in second place with 3.08 million viewers.

The musician’s show was first shown in 2011. There was a “Helene Fischer Show” every year until 2019. The show reliably attracts the most television viewers on Christmas Eve. In 2020 it was canceled due to the pandemic, but there was a best-of instead. After a two-year break, the show ran again last year.
