2024 has been an incredibly good year for Sebastian Stanwho shines as a performer with some quite demanding roles. The actor is generating a lot of buzz during the awards season for his leading roles in both A Different Man as in The Apprentice.
While there is still no date to know when Stan’s performance as Donald Trump can be seen streaming, it was confirmed that starting January 17 the production directed by Aaron Schimberg will be available in Max.
What A Different Man is about
At its core, A Different Man is a movie about self-acceptance, but it’s certainly not a feel-good movie by any means. The film centers on Edward (Stan), a man with neurofibromatosis who struggles in his daily life and his acting career due to his insecurities about his condition. After undergoing surgery that frees him from his grief, Edward’s life changes forever and he lands the lead role in a play his neighbor and love interest has written about his life. All that changes when Oswald (Adam Pearson), a man with the same condition that Edward once had, appears at the theater and quickly wins over the cast and crew with his charisma. Little by little, Oswald rebuilds the life that Edward has tried to create for himself, leading to a one-sided dispute.
Completing the cast of the production is a cast that includes Renate Reinsve, C. Mason Wells, Michael Shannon, Charlie Korsmo, Owen Kline and Patrick Wang. The film was the last to come from filmmaker Schimberg, who previously directed Chained for Life from 2019, which also featured Pearson in a lead role.
Sebastian Stan: looking for different roles
Although he has certainly demonstrated his wide range of talent in productions such as Pam & Tommy and The Martianmany viewers associate Stan’s face and name with the MCU. For more than a decade, the actor has appeared in numerous comic book cinematic universe films as Bucky Barnes, also known as Winter Soldier. But, through his work on A Different Man, Stan solidifies his ability to jump between genres. A critical success, the title is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a 92% critical approval rating. Until now, Stan has received a Golden Globe nomination for his performanceand more accolades are expected to come as we approach another awards season.
