A Los Angeles court dropped one of eleven charges in a trial against Harvey Weinstein.
The former film mogul Harvey Weinstein (69) has to answer in Los Angeles in a new trial on ten counts in court. An eleventh charge has now been dropped,. Weinstein’s lawyers had attempted to have three statute-barred charges dropped.
Weinstein’s lawyers spoke of a victory after the hearing. The dropped charge concerned an alleged assault of the 69-year-old in 2010. Five women accuse Weinstein in California. It concerns cases of alleged sexual assault that are said to have occurred between 2004 and 2013.
Weinstein pleads “not guilty”
The public prosecutor’s office has brought charges of rape, among other things. Weinstein denies all allegations. He had recently appeared in court and pleaded “not guilty”. Weinstein is due to appear again in court for another hearing on September 13, but there is no fixed date for a trial.
The former film producer was transferred to Los Angeles. In 2020 he was sentenced to 23 years in prison in New York. A jury found him guilty of sexual assault and rape.
