She celebrated success in film and television as well as on stage. Her exact age was always a secret.
The popular actress Hannelore Hoger (“Bella Block”) is dead. ZDF announced this at the request of the German Press Agency. According to a statement from management, the television, film and stage star died on December 21st in Hamburg. Until 2018, Hoger was seen in the ZDF successful series “Bella Block”, in which she starred for almost a quarter of a century and 38 episodes The strange detective went on a criminal hunt. How old Hoger got remains unclear, because the Grimme Prize winner always found the question “uncharming” – so the information fluctuated the year she was born between 1941 and 1943. Several media outlets had previously reported on Hoger’s death. Born in Hamburg, Hoger initially went to the stage after studying acting. She celebrated successes in Ulm, Bremen, Berlin, Bochum and Hamburg, among others – especially with directors Peter Zadek and Augusto Fernandes. The actress demonstrated her comedic talent in Helmut Dietl’s chic gloss “Rossini” (1997), in which she shone as a gossip reporter alongside colleagues such as Götz George and Mario Adorf. But the role for which she was most loved by a large audience was that of Bella Block in the ZDF crime series of the same name.
“The stars in the theater sky are mourning. Hannelore Hoger was the epitome of a great actress,” Hoger’s management quoted the Hamburg Senator for Culture and President of the German Stage Association, Carsten Brosda. “Whether in the theater, in film or on television – she knew how to completely transform herself into characters and always remain present in the role. Her art was psychologically sensitive acting, her gift was the feel for a large audience, and hers Passion, unconditional freedom.”
Brosda continued: “Hamburg and the acting world are mourning the loss of an impressive personality whose works will have an impact for a long time.”
