Megadeth is back in the studio working on a new album. The seventeenth album from the thrash metal legends will be the follow-up to “The Sick, The Dying and the Dead!” of 2022, but although the leader Dave Mustaine He’s already in the studio, his bandmates haven’t joined him yet.
Mustaine gave an update on X (ex Twitter), writing: “Right now I’m in the studio working with Chris Rakestraw. And everyone else is gone. Teemu [Mäntysaari, guitarras] is in Switzerland and James [LoMenzo, bajo] and Dirk [Verbeuren, batería] They are in Los Angeles. So I’m just here with Chris.”
He continued, “And Chris goes on vacation tomorrow, and I’m working until the last second today to get everything done before he leaves because we won’t start again until he gets back around New Year’s Day.
“And at that point, it’s only a matter of a couple of weeks before everyone gets together in the studio. And that’s why I am enthusiastic. And you will be excited“.

The news follows another update from Mäntysaari, in which he said that he and Mustaine were working remotely on new music over the holiday period.
“Dave is in the studio in Nashville and I have been working from home and now from the vacation spot where we are with the family,” he explained (according to the Metal Injection portal).
“But I’m working a little every day. And just today I was working on some ideas aloneand [estoy] talking to Dave on the phone every day and doing Zoom meetings and exchanging ideas. So there is progress every day, which is good.”
Mäntysaari continued: “I feel very good about the album. We already have many good ideas. I think it will be great.”
The upcoming album will be Mäntysaari’s studio debut with Megadeth after replacing Kiko Loureiro.
