Comedian Atze Schröder has gone from being the face of advertising for grilled sausages to becoming a vegan. But some reactions to it online surprised him negatively.
Comedian Atze Schröder doesn’t stuff “any more body parts” into himself. This is how the comedian put it – he has been eating a vegan diet for several years. The reason: His girlfriend, because of whom he moved to Hamburg about six years ago, is vegan and, on top of that, a talented cook. “For me, of course, a top starting position,” said Schröder.
Since then he has been raving about their vegan meatloaf, vegetable rösti from the NDR canteen, vegan currywurst from the Bahn bistro and, above all, cauliflower. If he posts something about it on the Internet, the reactions are strong: “Some people really freaked out. I didn’t even ask people to stop eating meat, I just wrote how great the dish tasted. And I was insulted in the worst possible way. “
Atze Schröder only misses cheese
The comedian, who used to advertise the “Bruzzzler” sausage, initially had resentment towards vegan food. In his youth there wasn’t always meat, but later on tour he was, “otherwise the crew would complain.” This is now over. There’s nothing wrong with him, he looks better, and his doctor is happy about his blood work. He just misses cheese sometimes. “And I still haven’t completely made peace with tofu.”
