The referee expelled six players from Riversuspended the match and gave it to the local team. But the worst came later with the arrests and Christmas in a penitentiary center.
The players involved could have received a sentence of between two to five years in prison. They are expected to return to the country shortly.
After the event went viral on social networks, the official River Women’s account expressed itself on its networks. “River Plate expresses its most absolute repudiation of the discriminatory gestures that occurred in the match with Gremio for the Brasil Ladies Cup 2024. It communicates that it is already taking the corresponding disciplinary measures and will continue working to eradicate this type of behavior”says the post.
