The Carriage Market It is considered by the Buenos Aires government as the first gourmet retail market in the city., which comes to join the already well-known Mercat Villa Crespo, Mercado del Soho and Mercado de San Telmo. Its final opening is scheduled for February and it will have 42 commercial premises mostly intended for gastronomy, although there will also be the sale of national and imported fresh and food products and services related to the gourmet world.

Building It is a project of 4200 square meters, its construction dates back to 1900 and has been protected as historical heritage of the City since 2011. It has two floors and a terrace. The city government put it out to tender to turn it into a market and it was the company Athenée Gruope SA that obtained an operating permit.

The company allied with Mercasa and They made an investment of 5.5 million dollars to restore the place. The façade and part of the interiors were preserved and restored to maintain their original essence. At the same time new roofs, air conditioning system and an escalator to move between the two floors were introduced.
