Just a few weeks after the birth of her son, Patricija Ionel returns to “Let’s Dance” as a professional dancer. A decision that surprises many fans of the show.
The new season of the RTL dance show “Let’s Dance” starts on February 18th. Fans of the format can look forward to the return of several professional dancers. Isabel Edvardsson is back after the birth of her second child, as is Massimo Sinató, who took a break for the birth of his son. There is also a reunion with Ekaterina Leonova, who won the show three times in a row. Many viewers could not understand that the 34-year-old had not been one of the professional dancers since 2020.
The fact that Patricija Ionel also appears as a professional dancer in the 15th season causes amazement. The 26-year-old only gave birth to a son at the beginning of January. Around six weeks after the birth, she wants to face the strains of the dance show and at least defend her fourth place from the previous year. At that time, Ionel performed together with professional boxer Simon Zachenhuber. “It’s going to be an incredibly cool time. I’m so looking forward to it. Can’t wait,” Ionel commented on the “Let’s Dance” announcement on Instagram.
Ionel’s participation is divided among followers. “Incredibly irresponsible to the newborn. Why have a child when your career is more important?!” reads one post. Another user writes: “But that’s extreme. Well, whatever you want.” Or also: “I also think it’s a pity what kind of signal is sent to the watching mothers.” Others point out that the child’s father might not need to listen to such comments.
“Let’s Dance”: This is how Patricija Ionel explains her participation
Like his wife, Alexandru Ionel is a professional dancer and also performed on “Let’s Dance” last year. He now wants to take a break this year and take care of their son Noelis during the show. The little one should come to the studio so that Patricija Ionel can breastfeed him during the breaks. The native Lithuanian does not see any of this as a problem.
“If I’m fine as a mother, then my baby is fine too. I’m already teaching and we’re training together. I feel good,” she said in an interview with RTL. In the eighth month of pregnancy, Ionel performed at a dance competition in Düsseldorf. According to her midwife, participating in “Let’s Dance” is not a concern. “Patricija is a professional athlete. The fitter the body, the faster it regenerates. There’s nothing wrong with that,” she told RTL.
