After a difficult year, Heinz Hoenig is looking forward with full courage. One pending operation is scheduled for 2025.
After a hospital stay of several months, Heinz Hoenig (73) was allowed to return home in September. Although an operation on the aorta is still pending, the famous actor doesn’t want to hear that he is very sick. He is hopeful.
“I’m not seriously ill! […] The operation is next year. But it’s not seriously ill. I feel good. Actually as good as before. With an aorta and a heart condition, I don’t want to hear that now,” says Hoenig in the presence of his wife, Annika Kärsten-Hoenig (39). If the 73-year-old “keeps thinking about the fact that I’m seriously ill, then I’m sick. Being sick starts in the head. We’ll talk about it when the time comes.” According to the report, there is no exact date for the operation yet.
A ride with the rollator for Heinz Hoenig
Because of the many steps up to the couple’s apartment, Hoenig has not been able to leave it since he returned home with his family. It will happen for the first time on New Year’s Eve, as Annika Kärsten-Hoenig explains: “We plan to carry Heinz piggyback down the stairs.” The celebration will take place at a close friend of Hoenig’s wife.
After the long time in the hospital, the actor needs to build muscle mass again – and to do this he trains every day. “I can now do a whole lap around our kitchen island with the walker,” he explains. “I’m not super healthy. But I’m healthy. […] I am full of courage and look forward positively.”
Heinz Hoenig became famous with films and series such as “Das Boot”, “Der Schattenmann” and “Der König von St. Pauli”. He has been married to Annika Kärsten-Hoenig since 2019. The couple’s two sons were born in 2020 and 2022.
