Kate Beckinsale: Her bad experiences in Hollywood

The entertainment industry and the dream factory also have their dark sides, as many are well aware. After Blake Lively (37) filed a lawsuit against her “Just One More Time” co-star Justin Baldoni (40), Kate Beckinsale (51) also speaks about several terrible situations that she has experienced.

Although the British Hollywood star has never met Lively and Baldoni, the affair has highlighted “this machine” that is set in motion when a woman in the industry complains about something “offensive, shocking, harmful or whatever.” Beckinsale then gives several examples.

The actress worked on a set where she was openly insulted because she said she found it difficult to work with her co-star, who was “drunk every day.” At times, she and the crew had to wait six hours a day for the unnamed star to learn his dialogues.

Whole groups of people have already stood in front of her and asked how the British woman could be “made attractive”. Twice she had to follow such a strict diet and hard training that she stopped having her period. And in two films she found herself in “unsafe combat situations”. She was even injured – and in response she was deliberately manipulated. She should feel like “the problem.”

Beckinsale was once forced by a publicist to “take part in a photo shoot the day after I had a miscarriage.” She said she couldn’t because she was bleeding. The publicist insisted and said: “You have to do it or you will be sued.”

Harvey Weinstein’s (72) name also appears in the video. Beckinsale suggests that the former film producer and convicted sex offender may have put her on a blacklist, but that she is “one of those who was lucky” that he did not attack her. When she was 18, she touched a crew member “who I really trusted.” The film’s leading actress and another actress claimed at the time that this never happened. Beckinsale can tell “47 million stories” of this kind and today she often sees men who claim that all of this has changed. However, that is not the case.

The actress is grateful to Lively for pointing out “that this is not an archaic problem that no one is confronted with, but that it continues. And when it happens, a machine is set in motion that is designed to absolutely destroy you . I’m sure this is the case in other industries and it just needs to stop.”

Shortly before Christmas, among other things, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni. The available documents speak of sexual harassment and a coordinated attempt to destroy the reputation of the wife of Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds (48). She said in a statement: “I hope my lawsuit will help lift the curtain on these sinister retaliatory tactics that harm people who speak out about wrongdoing – and protect others who may be targeted.” According to media reports, Baldoni plans to file a countersuit in the new year.
