They hope for a new year full of happiness

That’s why Patrice Aminati and her husband Daniel are happy that 2024 is finally over.

Around a year and a half after her cancer diagnosis, Patrice Aminati (29) had great news in September 2024: “What’s new? Nothing! Isn’t that wonderful? Current status: No metastases, no tumor markers.” Nevertheless, the past few months have been very stressful for her and her husband, ProSieben presenter Daniel Aminati (51). “We are very happy that this year is finally over,” .

“It was a year that I would like to put behind me and forget,” explains Patrice Aminati. “On the other hand, I have learned – unfortunately in a very bitter way – to enjoy life and even the little things. I wasn’t able to do that before the illness.”

Patrice Aminati: “Tumor-free does not mean therapy-free”

In April 2023, the couple made their diagnosis public: black skin cancer. Metastases had already formed. In August 2024, the two were finally able to report that Patrice was free of metastases. But she couldn’t come to terms with the illness. “The therapy continues to maintain the current status,” she explained in September. “The side effects are a rollercoaster ride. Tumor-free does not mean therapy-free.” Examinations still alternated with doctor’s visits and hospital stays, but she “enjoys and celebrates hours and days when I’m not in pain, I’m not afraid to listen to myself, I don’t feel anything, I don’t have to counteract it with medication.”

Patrice Aminati “still hopes for a cure”

“It doesn’t work without therapies. I still hope for a cure,” Patrice Aminati now tells the daily newspaper. For her it is nice to be able to live everyday life. For her, however, this also included a “bag full of medication […] and having to stay close to a hospital”.

“While we are grateful that Patrice’s current blood values and MRI results are good and we have every reason to be happy, we are very happy that this year is finally over,” says Daniel Aminati. For him, too, they “felt like the most strenuous months” of his life. “And now: New year, new luck, as the saying goes.”
