“Like A Completely Unknown”

He worked on his singing for five years in order to embody the music legend Bob Dylan: From February 27th, Timothée Chalamet can now be seen in “Like A Complete Unknown” (original title: “A Complete Unknown”). In it, the Hollywood star embodies Dylan at a young age. James Mangold’s film focuses on the singer-songwriter’s early career in New York in the 1960s. At the premiere in New York, Chalamet recently dressed up with blonde hair and a wool hat in exactly the same look that Dylan himself wore at a film premiere in the early noughties.

“Bridget Jones – Crazy About Him”

The fourth part of the legendary romantic comedy series “Bridget Jones” also starts on February 27th. As the protagonist, Renée Zellweger struggles with the death of her husband Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) and is raising two children alone. To the delight of many fans, Hugh Grant is back as Jones’ former lover Daniel Cleaver.

Disney remake of “Snow White”

A classic from 1937 is coming to the cinema again: the Disney film “Snow White”. Rachel Zegler plays the leading role (“West Side Story”) and Gal Gadot (“Wonder Woman”) plays the stepmother. The German cinema release of the newly released fairy tale is March 20th.

Pamela Anderson in “The Last Showgirl”

Actress Pamela Anderson has been enjoying a renaissance for a while now. The former “Baywatch” star first noticed that he appeared on the world’s red carpets with no makeup on – and received a lot of praise for it. Now she is being considered for an Oscar for her leading role in “The Last Showgirl” – she was already nominated for a Golden Globes. Anderson plays a dancer in Las Vegas in the film, which opens March 20th.

“September 5”, “Heroine”: Leonie Benesch twice

It was a surprise hit at the international film festivals: “September 5” by the Swiss director Tim Fehlbaum. The thriller tells of the 1972 Olympic attack in Munich, when Palestinian terrorists took Israeli athletes hostage and ultimately murdered them. Hamburg-born Leonie Benesch (“The Teacher’s Room”) can be seen in a leading role. The work, which opens in cinemas on January 9th, is nominated for a Golden Globe.

Another exciting film with Leonie Benesch is “Heroine” (cinema release February 27th). The 33-year-old plays a nurse in Petra Volpe’s work.

It’s supposed to be a reboot of the film series: James Gunn’s “Superman” blockbuster, which comes out in July. The director wants to counteract a certain fatigue with superhero films by placing a greater focus on the characters and their relationships with one another. Clark Kent will be played by David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) will play Lois Lane.

“Captain America” and “Fantastic Four”: New Marvel films

After recent failures, only one Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film was released in 2024 – that should change again in 2025. “Captain America: Brave New World” is the fourth part of the “Captain America” Marvel film series. Anthony Mackie plays the title role – and Harrison Ford is also there. The cinema release is scheduled for February. The Marvel film “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is scheduled to start in July. Part of the prominent cast are Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby.

“The Canoe of Manitu” by and with Bully Herbig

Over 20 years ago, “The Shoe of Manitu” became one of the most successful German films. It’s almost surprising that it took so long for director Michael (Bully) Herbig to dare to make a sequel. On August 14th, part two of “The Canoe of Manitu” will be released. Christian Tramitz and Rick Kavanian are there again. It will be exciting to see how Herbig will embody the role of the “Abahachi” chief in 2025 – when the portrayal of indigenous people is now being thought about more sensitively.

Biopic “Michael” with Jaafar Jackson

It is the first biopic about the “King of Pop” to be released in cinemas: “Michael”, the new film by Antoine Fuqua. Particularly moving: Michael Jackson (1958-2009) is portrayed by his nephew, Jaafar Jackson, born in 1996. The film, which is about Jackson’s eventful life and music career, is expected to be released in cinemas in October.

“F1”: Formula 1 film with Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem

Brad Pitt has been appearing at Formula 1 races for a long time now – a prelude to his new action film “F1”, which is scheduled to be released in cinemas in June. In Joseph Kosinski’s blockbuster, Pitt plays a former Formula 1 driver who returns as a mentor. Javier Bardem is also part of the cast. Record world champion Lewis Hamilton worked as a consultant and co-producer on the film, which was partly shot during the race weekends.
