The film world mourns the loss of a popular actor. John Capodice has died at the age of 83. He has appeared in more than 150 film and television productions. He was best known for his role in “Ace Ventura – An Animal Detective” alongside Jim Carrey (62).
Capodice died on Monday (December 30), according to an entry on the New Jersey funeral home’s homepage. He leaves behind his wife, two daughters and four grandchildren. The cause of death was not announced. “John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him,” the announcement reads.
Roles in “Independence Day,” “Speed” and more
Capodice was born on December 25, 1941 in Chicago. He started his acting career in the late 1970s. In 1978 he landed a role in the series “Ryan’s Hope” for six episodes. He became known to a larger audience especially in the 1990s. In addition to his role in “Ace Ventura”, he also appeared in six episodes of the popular hospital series “General Hospital” as well as the action films “Speed” and “Independence Day”.
