Surfing with dad: Prince Harry’s son Archie apparently took a few surfing lessons with his father.
Prince Archie of Sussex will turn six in May 2025. But the son of Prince Harry (40) and Duchess Meghan (42) is apparently already practicing surfing diligently. A new photo making the rounds online shows the five-year-old taking a surfing lesson with his dad.
At the beginning of the week, the well-known surf instructor Raimana van Bastolaer shared a reel on his Instagram profile, a short excerpt showing father and son together on a jet ski on the water. The two apparently took a few surfing lessons with the instructor from Tahiti at Kelly Slater’s “Surf Ranch” in Lemoore, California.
Too many hate comments?
A little later, however, von Bastolaer deleted the recordings again, which only show Prince Harry surfing and a photo together with the teacher. He captioned the post with the words “Don’t hate, don’t be angry, don’t be jealous. Support brother Harry, let’s go, 2025!!!” Apparently there were numerous hate comments on the original post.
Since Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan turned their backs on the British crown and moved to California in spring 2020, the couple has rarely shared snapshots of their children. Archie and daughter Lilibet (3) were last seen on the Sussexes’ Christmas card for 2024 – but only from behind and without a face.
Prince Harry takes surfing lessons
Prince Harry has apparently taken surfing lessons from Raimana van Bastolaer several times. Back in October last year, the surf instructor shared a clip of Harry riding the waves. “In Tahiti we still call you Prince Harry. But at the Surf Ranch you are my brother. It was an honor that you surfed with me and Kelly Slater,” he wrote.
Raimana van Bastolaer is from Tahiti and is often referred to as “Tahitian nobility” or “Teahupo’o’s godfather”. Teahupo’o is one of the most famous and dangerous surfing spots in the world and was the venue for the surfing competitions at the Paris Summer Olympics in the summer of 2024.
