Femicide in Mar del Plata: a 20-year-old police officer was murdered and her boyfriend was detained

A young police officer was murdered head shot this Wednesday, January 1, when he left his house in Mar del Plata. Her boyfriend was detained as the main suspect in the femicide.

The victim, Guadalupe Anahí Mena, 20 years old, was found by the Police and quickly transferred to the Interzonal General Acute Hospital (HIGA) where she was admitted in critical condition. Hours later doctors confirmed his death.

The first investigations left as their main hypothesis a possible fight between the victim and her boyfriendwho is also a police officer of the Departmental Support Group (GAD) of the Police of the Province of Buenos Aires.

The suspect, Fabián Vázquez, was arrested by the crime of aggravated homicide in the context of gender violence and it was ordered that a dermotest test.

In addition, an expert report is being carried out on the call to the emergency service to find out who notified the authorities and why they gave the alleged version that It was an accident while Mena was cleaning his service weapon.

Investigators are waiting for the preliminary results of the autopsy to be able to determine if it was an accident or if it was a femicide.

The accused’s version

As the 23-year-old accused explained to prosecutor María Constanza Mandagaran, the victim was in the bedroom while he cleaned his service weapon and that at that moment he made a “joke” when he put the 9 millimeter pistol to his head.

According to his testimony, he became concerned about the situation and asked the young woman not to play with the weapon, but when he did not respond, he tried to take it out.

In the midst of the struggle, the gun went off and the accused assured that He doesn’t know if he shot himself because of the movement, if he pulled the trigger or Mena did.

The version that Vázquez provided could be corroborated with the dermotest, an analysis that will be able to determine if there is indeed the presence of gunpowder in the victim’s right hand. However, these results would be known only on February 24according to the La Capital newspaper portal.

On the other hand, the accused stressed that Mena did not have suicidal tendencies, which is why in his story he emphasizes that everything would have been a joke.

The defense lawyer provided the security pattern to unlock the phone, which will be subjected to studies to determine whether the link is violent or toxic.
