In an interview, he reveals what cult bachelor Paul Janke thinks of the spin-off “Golden Bachelor” and its 73-year-old protagonist Franz Stärk.
Strictly speaking, he wasn’t, but Paul Janke (43) is considered a kind of original bachelor. Almost ten years after a pilot edition of the dating format, the annual rose award ceremony starts on TV with its season in 2012. After 14 more or less regular seasons, there is now a much-noticed further filming. In the “Golden Bachelor” the 73-year-old former teacher Franz Stärk is looking for happiness in love. Since December 3rd, the new episodes have appeared every Tuesday on RTL+. From January 26th, the episodes will be shown on RTL every Sunday from 7:05 p.m.
Paul Janke: “I really like it”
And if you believe Paul Janke, then it’s worth tuning in. He also watches the show and, when asked by spot on news, was impressed: “I really like it, it’s nice to look at and very sensitive,” says the Mallorcan by choice, who comes from Hamburg. He also “received consistently positive feedback” from others who watch the show, he adds.
Janke says about the “Golden Bachelor” Franz Stärk: “I think he’s doing it really well. Super refreshing, likeable and charming.” The original bachelor also admits that he was a bit skeptical at first. “At first I thought 73 might be a bit old, but he stayed super young and is doing a great job,” said Janke.
He also particularly notices the ladies who are vying for the bachelor. 18 single ladies over 60 flew with Stark to the Greek island of Crete for filming. “Because the women have already ‘confessed’, there are completely different topics and not as much bitching as normal,” praises Janke.
One detail reminds Paul Janke of his squadron
Aside from the older age of those involved in the show in front of the cameras, cult Bachelor Janke sees another big difference from the most recent “Bachelor” seasons. This difference is also a parallel to his season more than ten years ago. “This isn’t about followers and popularity. The women aren’t taking part here to grow on social media and get on the next TV show,” explains Janke. “This is really about eventually finding love – a little like it was for me back then. There was no Instagram back then,” adds the 43-year-old.
Paul Janke is apparently still undecided about the favorites. “It’s difficult to say. Maybe Liese or Susanne?” he muses. “We’ll see,” the TV professional adds with a laugh. And indeed: In the most recent New Year’s Eve episode, Germany’s first over-60 Rosenkavalier experienced the first kiss on the show. “If you like each other, you can show it,” he told Stärk and enthused after the exciting date with a helicopter flight and a romantic sunset: “It sparkled, it crackled.” It remains to be seen whether Lise can finally get the last rose…
