She made the colorful zigzag pattern famous: Now the Italian fashion designer Rosita Missoni has died at the age of 93.
Mourning for Rosita Missoni (1931-2025): The Italian fashion designer died at the age of 93, like the famous fashion house. “The Missoni family and the Missoni Group announce the passing of Rosita Missoni, a central figure in Italian fashion,” it said in a statement.
Rosita’s “creative vision” and her “tireless commitment” made the Missoni style a “symbol of Made in Italy” worldwide. “Her artistic legacy will live on through her creations, symbols of beauty and joy with which she inspired fashion and design enthusiasts.”
Husband Ottavio died in 2013
Rosita Missoni founded the famous Missoni brand together with her husband Ottavio, whom she married in 1953 and who died in 2013, and led it to international success. Bright colors and the zigzag pattern have always been the trademark of the house and ensured recognition value.
The Missonis had three children, all of whom worked in the family business. Her son Vittorio Missoni (1954-2013) served as CEO of the company until he died in a plane crash in January 2013. A few months later, Ottavio Missoni died at the age of 92. Since then, the company has been run by daughter Angela Missoni (67).
