He died as a result of a stroke
Among other things, Osmond’s younger brother Donny (67) announced that the musician had suffered a stroke. “I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to visit him in the hospital before he died. Wayne brought so much light, laughter and love to everyone who knew him, especially me. He was the ultimate optimist and was loved by loved by everyone,” the singer wrote alongside a black and white photo of his brother. For him and his siblings it was “lucky” to have Osmond as a brother.
His brothers mourn
Osmond’s brothers Merill (71) and Jay (69) also spoke up online and publicly mourned their family member. The 71-year-old wrote that he “immediately drove to the hospital in Salt Lake City to see him” and say goodbye. He had “never known a man who was so humble.” “My brother Wayne went through a lot. He did the best he could. His legacy will go down in history as someone who was not only a genius in his ability to write music, but was also able to win the hearts of millions “To conquer people and bring them closer to God,” the post also says.
“A true legend has left the earth. My heart is deeply saddened by the loss of my brother Wayne,” Jay, 69, began his post. “It is said that where there is great love, there is also great sadness when we part on our earthly journey. Of all my siblings, I have always felt the most connected to Wayne,” said the American musician.
He celebrated his breakthrough on US television
The fourth of nine children, Osmond was born on August 28, 1951 in Odgen, Utah. Together with his brothers Alan (75), Merrill and Jay Osmond, the musician founded a barbershop quartet in the late fifties. After the singing siblings were discovered, they appeared on “The Andy Williams Show” on US television for seven years. Later, Donny and Jimmy Osmond (61) and their sister Marie Osmond (65) also became part of the family band. The group celebrated the peak of their career in the 1970s with their hit “One Bad Apple”. Despite the separation a short time later, the siblings are still working as musicians and actors to this day.
In 1974, Osmond also found happiness in his private life and married his wife Kathlyn. He had five children with her. Since the 1990s, he has had to increasingly struggle with health problems: the musician had to undergo an operation due to a brain tumor. Although it was treated successfully, it was not without damage. Due to damage to his hearing, Osmond was almost deaf. He suffered a stroke in 2012.
