Woodstock legend Carlos Santana broke his finger in a fall. A planned concert series in Las Vegas has been postponed.
The legendary guitarist Carlos Santana (77) broke his finger as a result of a fall. The 77-year-old fell at his vacation home on the island of Kauai in Hawaii, said Michael Vrionis, president of Universal Tone Management, on January 3. Santana’s concerts planned for January 22nd in Las Vegas have therefore been postponed to a later date.
Carlos Santana breaks his pinky
Santana, who once performed at the legendary Woodstock festival, “accidentally” fell, the announcement continued. He “broke the little finger of his left hand,” said Vrionis. He continued: “He had to have pins inserted into his finger. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to play the guitar for about six weeks. But the doctors say he will make a full recovery.”
From the end of January, Santana was scheduled to be on stage at the House of Blues at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in the gambling metropolis of Las Vegas. Eight shows were scheduled through February 2nd.
Comeback with “Smooth”
“Carlos is doing well and is eager to be back on stage soon. He just needs to recover,” the statement released today continued. The musician is looking forward to “seeing all his fans again very soon.”
A few years ago, the legendary musician, who was voted the eleventh best guitarist of all time by 2023, was struggling with health problems. In 2021, Santana had to undergo unplanned heart surgery. Then in 2022 he suffered a fainting attack on stage. The reason was later given as “overheating and dehydration.” In both cases, a number of concerts were canceled back then.
Carlos Santana had enjoyed great success as a musician since the late 1960s and has been awarded ten Grammy Awards throughout his career. In 1999 he made a commercial comeback with the album “Supernatural” and the single “Smooth”, sung by Matchbox Twenty frontman Rob Thomas (52).
