The opposition leader, Edmundo González Urrutia – who proclaimed himself president-elect after the elections of July 28, 2024 -, was present in Argentina where, after his meeting with President Javier Milei, he met with the Minister of National Security, Patricia Bullrichand the Chancellor Gerardo Werthein. There, the three politicians demanded the release of gendarme Nahuel Gallo.
Regarding the future, González Urrutia stated that his intention is “go to Venezuela to take possession of the mandate that the Venezuelans gave me,” next January 10th. Today I feel closer than ever to fulfilling it.” the opponent said.
“We listened to Milei’s observations about how he was able to manage the economy Argentina and how it could help us Venezuelans. I am very grateful for the recognition that Milei gave me as elected president of Venezuela”, he assured.
“I am not going to reveal more than what I have already said: that my intention is to go to Venezuela simply to take possession of the mandate that Venezuelans gave me with more than 7 million votes to exercise the presidency. “I can’t say anything because the circumstances today are very complicated,” he commented on his future.
In reference to the case of Nahuel Gallo, who was kidnapped by the Maduro regime almost a month ago, González Urrutia demanded his “immediate freedom”: “We call for the freedom of the detained Argentine gendarme and that of all political and civil prisoners in Venezuela.”
Finally, the president-elect stated: “I am very excited by the receptivity of Venezuelans, which is very numerous. I appreciate President Milei’s recognition of me.”.

The meeting between both political leaders began at 1. According to what they said from Casa Rosada, during the meeting they discussed “concrete initiatives to promote stability in the region” and Argentina’s commitment to republican values and the well-being of its citizens was reaffirmed.
