Hans Meiser was an integral part of German private television for many years. From the founding of the RTL station in 1984 to 1992, Meiser was anchorman of the news programs “7 vor 7”, which later became “RTL aktuell”.
After that, he remained loyal to television and especially RTL.
At times he had his own daily talk show and secured RTL dream ratings. He also appeared in the reality format “Notruf”, moderated quiz shows and interviewed chancellor candidates. In 2010 his contracts were not renewed.
His TV comeback in 2015 in the ZDFneo show “Neo Magazin Royale” by Jan Böhmermann was short-lived.
Promotional videos for a financial publisher and some publications on a website that also spread conspiracy theory content caused a scandal from which Meiser’s career has never recovered. Today, Hans Meiser has largely withdrawn from the public eye. The Rhinelander lives with his third wife on the Baltic Sea, in the Baltic Sea resort of Scharbeutz in Schleswig Holstein.
“I now feel very comfortable here,” he told the DPA on the occasion of his 75th birthday. “Sometimes I envy myself.”
