Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds will miss the Golden Globes despite being nominated for Deadpool & Wolverine.
Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds (48) and his wife Blake Lively (37) will not be present at the prestigious Golden Globe Awards ceremony on January 5th (local time) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Reynolds is nominated together with co-star Hugh Jackman (56) in the “Cinematic and Box Office Achievement” category for the blockbuster “Deadpool & Wolverine” (2024). Jackman will also not be at the awards ceremony.
The decision was made before a legal dispute
However, this should have nothing to do with the legal dispute between Lively and her fellow actor Justin Baldoni (40). Insiders emphasize that the decision not to attend the ceremony was made “long before” the current legal dispute.
Lively filed a complaint against her It Ends With Us co-star Baldoni in December 2024, accusing him of sexual harassment and a smear campaign. The actor denies the allegations as “false” and has filed a $250 million lawsuit against the New York Times.
Moderator shows sensitivity
This year’s Golden Globes presenter Nikki Glaser (40) had already announced that she would not make any jokes about the legal dispute on her show. “I think the Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni thing is so heated right now that even a mere mention of it could be misinterpreted,” . She didn’t even want to mention his name.
The organizers can still look forward to a glamorous evening. The 82nd Golden Globe Awards will be broadcast live next Sunday from 8 p.m. (local time) on CBS and the Paramount+ streaming service.
