King Charles and Camilla made their first public appearance in 2025 at Sunday church near their country home in Sandringham.

It was pouring rain. But the rain couldn’t stop King Charles (76) and Queen Camilla (77) from attending the Sunday service in Sandringham, England. According to British and American documentation, the monarch was in good spirits despite ongoing cancer treatment.

Despite the gray sky, the king appeared to be in a sunny mood at the service at St. Mary Magdalene Church. He beamed with joy as he greeted Graham Usher, the Bishop of Norwich, who delivered the sermon in the church that day.

The side effects of the cancer treatment, which continues in the meantime, were not noticeable. The Brit made a carefree impression in a dark gray suit with a calf-length, mottled brown coat and lilac tie. Camilla also beamed under her cognac-colored hat with fur trim and transparent peak.

Shortly before Christmas, the king’s treatment for the previously undisclosed form of cancer would extend until 2025, but would “move in a positive direction”. There are plans to travel within Britain and abroad, sources close to the palace said.

Hopeful start to the year after a “brutal” year

2024 was a devastating year for the royal family, as both King Charles and Princess Kate (who turns 43 on January 9) were diagnosed with cancer. The king was admitted to hospital in January for a procedure to treat an enlarged prostate. Something concerning was identified, which was later diagnosed as cancer. On March 22nd, his daughter-in-law Kate announced her cancer diagnosis in an emotional video message.

The royal family’s turn out for the classic walk to and from St. Mary Magdalene Church was significant for the British people, given the double cancer scare of Prince William’s, 42, wife and his father. The prince described the year 2024 to the British media as “brutal” and “probably the hardest year of my life”.
