Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck: Their divorce is settled

“Bennifer” will soon be over for good: singer Jennifer Lopez (55) and actor Ben Affleck (52) are said to have settled their divorce. The couple married in Las Vegas in July 2022 and Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024. While we already want to know about a completed divorce, this step should not be completed until February 20th.

Both Lopez and Affleck should therefore keep their assets, which they each acquired individually from various projects during their marriage. The “Argo” actor’s share in his and Matt Damon’s (54) production company “Artists Equity” would remain untouched. It is unclear how the couple agreed on the division of their $60 million mansion in Beverly Hills, which has been for sale for months. The stars did not have a marriage contract.

According to People, the singer filed for divorce on August 20, 2024 and gave the date of separation as April 26. The reason is irreconcilable differences. She filed a motion in Los Angeles County Superior Court asking for no spousal support and for attorney fees to be split. She also noted that the “exact nature” of their joint assets, as well as their separate property and obligations, was “unknown” and “needs to be determined.” She also wants to remove his last name from her name.

“Bennifer” can look back on a long love story: After getting engaged and unengaged around 20 years ago, they got back together in 2021. They married in July 2022 in an intimate ceremony in Las Vegas. They later celebrated their wedding with a larger ceremony in Georgia on August 20, 2022 in front of friends and family. Lopez filed for divorce exactly two years later. Rumors of tension in the marriage emerged in May after the two had not been seen together for weeks. So Lopez promoted her film “Atlas” alone and came to the Met Gala solo. The former couple also spent the summer months apart.

Nevertheless, they seem to be trying to maintain a good relationship. With a view to their total of five children, they should see each other from time to time and meet at school events, for example. Shortly before Christmas they were also seen together in a restaurant where they are said to have exchanged gifts.

The stars do not have any children together. Lopez had twins Max and Emme (16) with her ex-husband Marc Anthony (56). Affleck has three children with Jennifer Garner (52): Violet (18), Seraphina (15) and Samuel (12).
