Actress Christine Neubauer wants to surpass herself again at the age of 62 – in the new season of the RTL show “Let’s Dance”.
“No, I’m not afraid, but I have tremendous respect” – with these words Christine Neubauer (62) comments on her participation in the 18th season of “Let’s Dance” in an interview with RTL. The 62-year-old actress apparently sees the dance show not only as a dancing challenge, but also as a battle with herself. Her big goal: She wants to become the oldest “Let’s Dance” winner in the world.
Neubauer, who celebrated her breakthrough in the late 1980s with the ARD series “Löwengrube”, can look back on an impressive career. Born in Munich, the daughter of a printing couple, she completed her acting training with Ruth von Zerboni in the Bavarian capital and at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in New York. She became known to a wide audience primarily through numerous television films and series. In recent years, however, things have become a little quieter; it was only last year that their appearances became more frequent again. She took on the leading role in the film “Hundswut” alongside Christian Tramitz (69) and was also seen in the sketch comedy series “Smeilingen – A Village Like You and Me”.
The actress has also gone through some changes in her personal life in recent years. After separating from her long-time husband Lambert Dinzinger (68), the father of her son Lambert Jr., in 2011, she found new love in the Chilean photographer José Campos (58). Neubauer has been living mainly on Mallorca for over ten years now. However, the actress continues to spend a lot of time in her home country of Germany for her engagements.
Fight against your inner bastard
“My heart is filled with a lot of anticipation, but of course I know about the gigantic challenge,” says Neubauer, describing her emotional state with regard to her participation in “Let’s Dance”. “If I manage to defeat myself in the fight against myself and my pressure, I would like myself and my dance partner to become the oldest ‘Let’s Dance’ winner in the world,” the actress explains her motivation for her ambitious goal.
The physical strain of intensive dance training should not be underestimated. After all, Neubauer was diagnosed with the rheumatic autoimmune disease Bechterew’s disease in 2017. Nevertheless, she is apparently not intimidated by this handicap and wants to prove that you can master new challenges even when you are over 60 and have health restrictions.
From the finca to the parquet
In addition to Neubauer, other prominent participants such as singer Jeanette Biedermann (44), Olympic gymnastics champion Fabian Hambüchen (37), musician Ben Zucker (41) and her actress colleague Simone Thomalla (59) will conquer the dance floor in the coming season. Instead of Mediterranean peace and quiet in her adopted Mallorcan home, the bright spotlight of the RTL studio now awaits Christine Neubauer. Maybe life on the island also gave her a bit of the famous Spanish lightness. This could definitely benefit her on the dance floor. From the Paso Doble to the Cha-Cha-Cha…
