On her Instagram profile, Paris Jackson celebrates having stayed away from drugs for five years – and finally feeling.

Paris Jackson (26) is celebrating her five-year anniversary. “Five years clean and sober,” posts the daughter of the late “King of Pop,” Michael Jackson (1958-2009), and admits at this point: “I am an alcoholic and heroin addict.”

“Today marks five years clean and sober from all drugs and alcohol,” she begins the post, which she begins with the confession of being an addict. “To say I’m grateful would be a poor euphemism. Gratitude barely scratches the surface,” she continues. “Because I’m sober, I get to smile today. I get to make music. I get to experience the joy of loving my dogs and my cat.”

Paris Jackson: “I’m allowed to mourn”

She makes it clear how much she has numbed her emotions during her years of addiction, writing: “I experience heartbreak in all its glory. I am allowed to mourn. I am allowed to laugh. I am allowed to dance. I can trust. I feel the sun on my skin and it is warm I have found that life keeps happening regardless of whether I am sober or not […].”

Jackson follows her words with a compilation of photos and videos that seem to document the last five years. “Here’s a little snapshot of what my sobriety has made possible, and my God, I can’t believe I missed almost all of it,” she announces the clip, which begins with a drinking Jackson and a fun-loving, laughing one Woman ends. She makes music, travels, has adventures. Intimate moments with her partner Justin Long can also be seen.

Before the clip ends, a message appears in red letters against a black background that reads: “To those who have helped me on this journey, if only for the beginning, the middle, or the entire time so far. You know who you are You are and I owe you my life. Thank you, God.
