The son of Sylvie Meis and Rafael van der Vaart is celebrating another success in his football career. His mom can hardly believe it.
This is what real motherly happiness looks like: Sylvie Meis (46) celebrates the next milestone in the professional football career of her son Damián van der Vaart (18) with emotional fireworks on Instagram. She even joined in via FaceTime when his contract was extended at top Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam. His famous father Rafael van der Vaart (41) was also enthusiastic.
New contract with Ajax Amsterdam until 2029
Damián van der Vaart is taking big steps to follow in the footsteps of his dad Rafael, who also started his career at Ajax Amsterdam and later scored numerous goals at HSV and Real Madrid, among others. The junior has so far been through the U18 and U19 ranks at Ajax, and the new contract now commits the young talent to the club’s U23 team until 2029.
Mama Sylvie: “My heart is bursting with pride and joy!”
his mother Sylvie gave free rein to her enthusiasm. Alongside a photo showing Damián wearing his new jersey, she commented: “My sweet Dami! My heart is bursting with pride and joy! Watching you sign a new 4.5-year contract with Ajax Amsterdam is an unforgettable moment “We have all been waiting for with so much excitement. Your hard work, determination and passion have brought you here and I couldn’t be prouder of the man you have become.”
Since the presenter (“Love Island”) is currently on vacation in the Maldives, she was unable to be there in person when the contract was signed, but had her ex-husband Rafael join in via FaceTime. He was also pleased, but only expressed his enthusiasm in the simple words “Proud of you”. The photo posted shows him in a warm embrace with his successful son.
Damián van der Vaart celebrated his new contract with a series of posts. There he commented: “I am very happy to have signed a new contract with my dream club.”
