The fires that started in Pacific Palisadesone of LA’s most upscale neighborhoods, also affected parts of Malibu and Santa Monica overnight Tuesday. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, that fire was 0% contained, the same as three other active wildfires in LA County (Eaton, Hurst and Woodley).
The governor of California, Gavin Newsomhad declared a state of emergency Tuesday night, while Santa Monica and Malibu issued evacuation orders.
On Wednesday morning, all residents were urged to heed evacuation orders, stay off the roads and work from home amid poor air quality. Los Angeles’ iconic Griffith Park, the film’s main location and the iconic hilltop and canyon area of Los Feliz and Burbank, is closed due to wind and smoke storm warningsalong with Runyon Canyon, the Hollywood Reservoir and the famous Hollywood Sign.

“7:00 pm: We evacuated Malibu, so at the last minute small fires broke out on both sides of the highway as we approached PCH,” Hamill posted on his Instagram account Tuesday night. Later, with his wife Marilou York and his dog Trixie they arrived at his daughter Chelsea’s house in Hollywood. And he added: “The most terrible fire since 1993.”
Other Hollywood stars took to social media to share first-hand accounts of the fire and its impact. Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montagas well as James Woodsthey shared on social networks that they lost their homes.

Speaking to CNN on Wednesday, Woods said his entire street was on fire and that a neighbor was able to save a 90-year-old man with dementia an hour before his house caught fire. “There was so much chaos it was like hell. “All the houses around us were on fire,” he said of fleeing his home. “They evacuated us with the clothes we had on.”
The actor Steve Guttenberg had appeared on CNN Tuesday night after spending all day helping people stranded on the PCH, whose scenic route from Malibu to Santa Monica is now closed. He called the fire in Pacific Palisades, where he lives, “the most incredible fire I have ever seen in my life”.

“There were mothers suffering from panic attacks and little children crying,” he said. “The cars were very close together for more than two miles and it was dangerous, the police were coming.” Guttenberg concluded: “I spent the whole day moving these cars up the hill, trying to move them so the fire trucks could get through.”.

Schitt’s Creek comedian Eugene Levywho is the current honorary mayor of Pacific Palisades, evacuated the area early Tuesday morning and stated, “The smoke looked pretty black and intense over Temescal Canyon… the smoke was very dark.”
