US acting awards: Demi Moore and Ralph Fiennes nominated

The Golden Globes have been awarded, more awards are coming up in Hollywood. The acting industry has now nominated its favorites. Stars like Demi Moore and Ralph Fiennes are still on course for an Oscar.
Hollywood’s Screen Actors Guild (SAG) has given the films “Wicked” and “A Complete Unknown” the most award nominations. The film musical “Wicked” has five chances to win, while “A Complete Unknown,” about the life of Bob Dylan, is nominated four times. The Vatican thriller “Conclave” by Edward Berger is also in the running.
In the “Best Actor” category are Timothée Chalamet (“A Complete Unknown”), Adrien Brody (“The Brutalist”), Daniel Craig (“Queer”), Ralph Fiennes (“Conclave”) and Colman Domingo (“Sing Sing”) Up for the SAG trophy for best actress are Demi Moore (“The Substance”), Cynthia Erivo (“Wicked”), Mikey Madison (“Anora”), Karla Sofía Gascón (“Emilia Pérez”) and Pamela Anderson (“The Last Showgirl”) in the running.
Nominated in the supporting actor categories include Kieran Culkin (“A Real Pain”), Edward Norton (“A Complete Unknown”), Ariana Grande (“Wicked”) and Zoe Saldaña (“Emilia Pérez”).
Five films – “A Complete Unknown”, “Anora”, “Konklave”, “Emilia Pérez” and “Wicked” – are vying for the ensemble award for the entire cast in the top category.
The SAG Awards are scheduled to take place for the 31st time on February 23rd in Los Angeles. They are among the most important prizes in the acting industry and are seen as a harbinger of the Oscars coming up in March. The association has more than 122,000 members.
The SAG winners are often presented with prizes at the Oscars. Last year, the historical drama “Oppenheimer” won three SAG trophies – for lead actor Cillian Murphy, supporting actor Robert Downey Jr. and the ensemble award for the entire cast. Murphy and Downey Jr. also later won their respective Oscars.
