Matthew Perry left Lisa Kudrow a personal note in a cookie jar at the end of their time filming “Friends” together.
Matthew Perry (1969-2023) gave his “Friends” colleague Lisa Kudrow (61) a very special gift with a very personal note at the end of their time filming together. Only recently did she come across it again,
Perry gave Kudrow a cookie jar as a parting gift on set. She received the prop, which was also part of a scene with Kudrow, from her colleague on her last day of filming. The actor playing Chandler Bing had even left a personal note in the glass, which Kudrow had completely forgotten and now found again. “I had recently found the note that he had in there for me,” Kudrow said on the YouTube show. “I hadn’t opened it or looked inside. But yes, it did. It had a note in it and I had forgotten it.”
The glass had been part of a scene in which Kudrow’s scheduled character Phoebe Buffay refers to it as a clock. Perry had written on the hidden piece of paper: “Timing is everything”.
“Do you have permission for this?”
At the time of the handover, however, what was more important to Kudrow was that Perry had actually gotten to the glass legally. “The first thing I asked was, ‘That’s so sweet. Do you have permission for that?'” Apparently Kudrow feared that her friend and colleague might have stolen the glass. The actress remembers that her car was searched every evening when she left the set.
Perry and Kudrow filmed the successful sitcom “Friends” as part of the ensemble from 1994 to 2004. Perry died in October 2023 at the age of 54.
