The actor was absent from the screen for several years due to allegations of sexual assault. Hammer commented on it again – and will soon be seen in a vigilante thriller.
US actor Armie Hammer (38) stars in the new film by German director Uwe Boll. This is announced by Kinostar Filmverleih GmbH. Filming for “The Dark Knight” is scheduled to begin in Croatia at the end of January.
After film hits like “Call Me By Your Name” or “The Social Network”, Hammer had not worked as a film actor for several years. The reason was allegations of sexual assault. In 2023, the public prosecutor’s office in Los Angeles announced after an examination that it would not be filing charges. The actor has denied the allegations.
Hammer: “I was a selfish asshole”
In a recent interview on the podcast “Your Mom’s House,” Hammer commented again on the allegations, which he continues to deny. But he also said that he had behaved incorrectly in previous relationships. “I was a selfish asshole,” he elaborated. “I used people to make myself feel better.”
Boll, who comes from Wermelskirchen in North Rhine-Westphalia, is known for action and horror films, for example “Swords of the King – Dungeon Siege” with Jason Statham.
“The Dark Knight” is not Hammer’s first film since the incidents. He also recently filmed the western “Frontier Crucible” with Travis Mills. In Boll’s new work, Hammer is supposed to embody a man who resorts to vigilantism and hunts down criminals.
