Princess Kate turned 43. The heir to the British throne addressed his wife with an unusually passionate message.
The British heir to the throne, Prince William, made a moving public declaration of love for his wife Kate on her 43rd birthday.
“The most incredible wife and mother. The strength you have shown over the past year is remarkable. George, Charlotte, Louis and I are so proud of you,” William wrote in an unusually personal message on the social media platform X . He added: “Happy Birthday Catherine. We love you.” The message was signed with a W for William – a sign that he wrote it himself.
Prince William spoke of the hardest year of his life
The Princess of Wales, who is celebrating her birthday today in a small circle, has had a turbulent year. In mid-January 2024, she had an abdominal operation. She then spent almost two weeks in the hospital. While she was still recovering from the procedure, she received a cancer diagnosis. Soon after, she began chemotherapy. Looking back, William described the time as “brutal” and spoke of probably the hardest year of his life.
Princess Kate: More frequent public appearances expected
During her illness, Kate addressed the public several times with very personal messages after initially remaining silent. Most recently, she announced the completion of her chemotherapy in September with a lavishly produced video that showed her walking with William and their three children aged between six and eleven. She also announced a gradual return to her public duties.
Princess Kate and her important role in the royal family
Happy Birthday, Princess Kate! Prince William’s wife turns 43 on Thursday. This year she is celebrating her special day at home in Windsor – and not, as usual, at her country estate in Norfolk. Kate has had a difficult year and only returned to work a few weeks ago after undergoing chemotherapy. Her appearances are now less frequent, but when she does come, it is always with full presence, like here at a Christmas service in London at the beginning of December.

After appearing briefly at the King’s birthday parade in June, she also took part in the traditional World War commemoration in November. At the beginning of December she invited people to her now traditional Christmas concert in Westminster Abbey, where she honored people who have worked for others. It is expected that she will now appear in public more often.
