Carsten Maschmeyer is directly affected by the devastating fires in California. His son’s house fell victim to the fire.
Carsten Maschmeyer (65) experienced the severe fires in California firsthand. The entrepreneur is currently in Los Angeles with his wife Veronica Ferres (59), both of whom were guests at the Golden Globe Awards last Monday. The couple even lives in the Hollywood Hills, but large parts of it had to be evacuated due to the fire. This also applies to Maschmeyer, who has now been able to find shelter in the Venice district, as he told the news agency spot on news. His son Maurice (31) is even more affected by the inferno.
Maurice Maschmeyer lives with his wife, whom he married in the summer, and their one-year-old daughter in a rented villa in the Pacific Palisades district. The small family’s home was completely burned out by the fire, as a photo provided by Maschmeyer shows. “It is an unbelievable tragedy. We can only hope that the tireless efforts of the firefighting forces will soon stop the flames. They are risking their lives around the clock,” said Maschmeyer about the disaster. His family is currently safe only thanks to the heroic help of the rescue workers.
Maschmeyer has to cancel important appointments
A few days ago, Carsten Maschmeyer celebrated with his wife and their daughter Lilly Krug (23) at the Golden Globes. Now we can no longer think of such celebrations. Because of the fire, the “Lion’s Den” investor had to cancel the annual opening meeting with his American investment team from MGV. There he actually wanted to exchange ideas with start-ups and founders from the USA. “But given the dangers, we had to cancel everything,” says Maschmeyer.
Since January 7, wildfires in Los Angeles have already destroyed thousands of acres of land, destroyed over 2,000 buildings and forced numerous evacuations, particularly in affluent areas such as Pacific Palisades, Malibu and the Hollywood Hills. In addition to the Maschmeyer family, celebrities such as actors Billy Crystal (76), Mandy Moore (40), Leighton Meester (38) and Paris Hilton (43) are also affected. The fires continue to rage uncontrollably and are fanned by strong winds, making extinguishing work considerably more difficult.
