Jamie Lee Curtis (66) appeared emotional on Wednesday, January 8th due to the wildfires in California. “It’s just a catastrophe in Southern California,” said the actress, visibly moved by presenter Jimmy Fallon (50). “Of course there have been terrible fires in many places, but this is literally my home.”

Her own house was not affected by the fire, but many places in her home in Los Angeles were affected, such as her local market, her children’s school and friends’ houses. “It’s a really terrible situation,” Curtis said.

It wasn’t easy for her to take part in the late-night show in New York, in which she originally wanted to promote her new film “The Last Showgirl”, wrote Curtis afterwards “Flying to New York and the beginnings of the stories “Hearing about the fire was a challenge – far away from my home, my family and my friends, I felt very powerless,” said the 66-year-old. However, talk show host Fallon caught her perfectly in this difficult situation: “The hug he gave me to support my fragile feelings will always be remembered.”

The Oscar winner also shared the devastating fires on her account. Among other things, she showed the completely burned-out church in the particularly affected district of Pacific Palisades, which helped her overcome her alcohol addiction 25 years ago.

A million dollars to rebuild

It is now time to stand together and help each other, emphasized Jamie Lee Curtis. She, along with her husband, Christopher Guest, 76, and their children, “pledged $1 million from our family foundation to create a fund to support our great city, our state, and the great people who live and love it.” She is currently in contact with the responsible politicians to decide where the equivalent of around 970,000 euros can best be used.
