Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan shared an appeal on their website to help the victims of the fires in California.

Prince Harry (40) and Duchess Meghan (43) have spoken out about the devastating forest fires in California. The couple has also lived in the US state since retiring from royal duties in 2020, but Harry and Meghan’s hometown of Montecito is currently not directly affected by the fire.

“Over the past few days, wildfires have raged through Southern California neighborhoods, devastating families, homes, schools, medical facilities and more – affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life,” the Sussexes wrote in their post. The royals appealed that everyone who could should help their fellow human beings.

“Open your house!”

They also shared links to various aid organizations, including fire service foundations, food banks, animal rescues and the American Red Cross. People are encouraged to make donations in kind.

But you should also show personal solidarity with those affected and offer support if necessary: “Open your house!” is the call from Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan. “Ask disabled or elderly neighbors if they need help evacuating.”

Devastating fires have been raging in Southern California since January 7th and have destroyed large parts of Los Angeles. The Pacific Palisades, Malibu and Hollywood Hills neighborhoods, where many celebrities also live, are particularly affected. Harry and Meghan’s villa is over 140 kilometers north of Los Angeles. Her neighborhood near Santa Barbara has not been evacuated.
