Fire in the greater Los Angeles area: Harry and Meghan visit those affected by the fires

Prince Harry (40) and his wife, Duchess Meghan (43), met with those affected by the fires in California.

In footage from the US broadcaster Fox 11, the two were seen at a conference site in Pasadena near Los Angeles. There they talked to people who had to flee their homes from the flames, as well as to helpers. It was repeatedly seen how the royals gave people a comforting hug.

They distributed food without being recognized

The mayor of Pasadena, Victor Gordo, praised the efforts of the two in an interview with the station. “They didn’t come here for attention. They came to work,” Gordo said. It was their second visit to the site, having also visited those affected in the fire areas. With their respiratory masks, they even remained unrecognized while handing out food.

The couple had previously called on their website for people to shelter friends and relatives affected by the fires in their homes. “Please also consider donating clothing, toys, children’s clothing and other essential items,” said the royals. According to media reports, Harry and Meghan set a good example.

Relationship with the royals is considered to be broken

Harry and Meghan live with their two children, Prince Archie (5) and Princess Lilibet (3), and several dogs in a property in Montecito near Santa Barbara, northwest of Los Angeles. The couple broke away from the inner circle of the British royal family about five years ago.

The relationship with the other royals is considered to be broken. Harry is particularly in conflict with his brother William (42). But also the relationship with his father King Charles III. (76) is considered tense.

The main contributing factors were the publication of Harry’s autobiography “Spare” (“Reserve”) and a Netflix documentary series in which the couple documented their estrangement from the royal family.
