“Manta, Manta” star Tina Ruland (58) has sworn off alcohol. “I don’t drink a drop anymore,” revealed the actress from Uschi, who was most recently seen alongside Til Schweiger (61) in “Manta Manta – Second Part”.
For the TV documentary “Alcohol Detox – The Challenge”, which can be seen on NDR on January 13th and 14th, she initially gave up the stimulant that is so popular in Germany. After four weeks without alcohol, Ruland remained abstinent. This makes her feel “clearer and more awake! I’ve definitely been sleeping much better since I stopped drinking alcohol. I also last longer at parties.”
Tina Ruland reveals her former drinking habits
In the past, Ruland “drank alcohol on average three times a week.” According to her own statement, she never had to go through any really bad experiences because of drinking. “When I was young, it once happened that I woke up after a one-night stand, knew where I was, but thought: ‘I could have given that to myself,'” she says, looking self-critically at her previous one Alcohol consumption back.
“Manta Manta – Second Part”, Ruland’s first appearance on the big screen after a break of around five years, proved to be a great success at the German box office in 2023. Around 1.25 million viewers flocked to the cinemas to see what had become of Ruland’s Uschi and Bertie, played by Schweiger, over the years.
However, Ruland himself has not ruled out a third “Manta Manta” part. “Why not, if people want to do it. But please don’t wait another 30 years. Although, that could be very funny if we do a walker race,” said Ruland half-jokingly in the year the late sequel was released.
