Duchess Meghan wants to present the Californian way of life in her Netflix series – but now the violent fires in Los Angeles are thwarting the start.
The fire disaster in California prompted Duchess Meghan to postpone her new Netflix series “With Love, Meghan” by a few weeks. It was originally scheduled to start on January 15th. The new date is now March 4th.
Meghan: The needs of those affected are now more important
According to reports, the release date will be rescheduled “at Meghan’s request and with the full support of Netflix.” “I am grateful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch as we focus on the needs of those affected by the wildfires in my home state of California,” Prince Harry’s wife is quoted as saying.
The eight-part series highlights the advantages of the Californian way of life. In the show, filmed in Montecito, Meghan is seen cooking, tending to a beehive, arranging flowers in a shop and entertaining friends. “I’ve always loved taking something fairly ordinary and elevating it,” she says in the trailer. “I surprise people with moments that show them I’m really thinking about them.”
Commitment to the fire victims
California has special meaning for the Duchess of Sussex. She was born and raised in Los Angeles. Since 2020, after withdrawing from the British royal family, the former actress has been living with her family in nearby Montecito.
Harry and Meghan have already been committed to the victims of the fires in recent days. On January 10, they visited the World Central Kitchen in Pasadena to distribute food and supplies. With their Archewell Foundation, they are working to provide further help.
“In recent days, wildfires have raged through residential areas in Southern California, destroying families, homes, schools, medical centers and much more – affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life,” Harry and Meghan said in a statement on their official website and called for donations : “Some families and people have nothing left. Please consider donating clothing, children’s toys and clothing and other essential items.” They themselves welcomed friends and relatives who had to be evacuated into their house.
