The fire tragedy in the Los Angeles area doesn’t leave pop star Beyoncé indifferent. Her foundation is providing $2.5 million.
Beyoncés (43) is making a contribution to supporting the victims of the wildfires in Los Angeles. The singer announced on Jan. 12 that her charitable foundation BeyGOOD is donating $2.5 million to help families rebuild after their losses.
Fund for families
The foundation states: “Los Angeles, we stand with you. BeyGOOD is taking action by announcing the LA Fire Relief Fund with a donation of $2.5 million. The fund is for families in the Altadena/Pasadena area, who have lost their homes, as well as churches and community centers to address the immediate needs of those affected by the wildfires.”
The fires, fueled by strong Santa Ana winds, have burned thousands of structures, including homes, businesses and vehicles. At least eleven people have died and the death toll is expected to rise as search efforts continue.
Fundraising campaigns are underway
BeyGOOD, founded in 2013, is the latest in a series of organizations that have committed to donations to help those in need in the wake of the wildfires. On Friday, the Walt Disney Company pledged $15 million for community relief and recovery efforts, while Paramount and Fox Corp. donated $1 million to the American Red Cross and the Los Angeles Fire Department. Previously, Warner Music and the Blavatnik Foundation announced a $1 million commitment to fire relief and recovery efforts in the Los Angeles area.
Many stars are also supporting in the face of the disaster. Actress Eva Longoria (49) has just announced that she wants to donate $50,000 to the organization “This Is About Humanity” to support frontline workers affected by the fires. Prince Harry (40) and his wife Duchess Meghan (43) visited a food distribution and asked for material donations through their Archewell Foundation.
