Costanera Sur and Ecological Reserve
image.png
The Costanera Sur was the most popular promenade during the first half of the 20th century, when the waters of the river allowed the people of Buenos Aires to enjoy its spa and the restaurants that were nearby.
Although today it is no longer possible to cool off in the river, the Costanera Sur promenade and its 350-hectare Ecological Reserve is an excellent alternative for walking, running, biking or spending the day with the family in the open air.
North Coastal
Continuing with the options to put together a list of outdoor walks in Buenos Aires and enjoy its Río de la Plata, the Costanera Norte corridor offers from restaurants, piers where to fish, dancing bowling alleys and recreational green spaces.
We recommend making a stop at the fishermen’s wharf and entering its confectionery with views of the river, a must!
February 3 Park and Palermo Rose Garden
image.png

First of all, we suggest the Palermo Rose Garden as one of the most beautiful green spaces in Buenos Aires. Located inside the Parque 3 de Febrero, it occupies an area of 3.4 hectares whose protagonists are, undoubtedly, the roses.
Clearly, it is one of the outdoor walks in Buenos Aires that you must visit, not only for the beauty of its parks but also for its gastronomic center: Los Arcos del Rosedal
ecopark
Inaugurated on the site where the old Buenos Aires zoo used to be, the Ecopark seeks to care for and preserve animals, educate on the importance of caring for biodiversity, and promote rescue and rehabilitation actions for wildlife.
For this reason, its 16.7 hectares are an ideal green space to explore with the family, enjoying nature and learning through its educational and recreational experiences.
Botanical Garden of the City «Carlos Thays»
One of the favorite walks to oxygenate the lungs and fill the view of “green” around the city.
The Buenos Aires Botanical Garden is named after Carlos Thays, the French landscaper who conceived it. With free access, it is an immense space of 7 hectares, 5,500 plant species, sculptures and paths that invite you to recover the calm that usually takes away our “city of fury”.
The Botanical Garden of Buenos Aires, an ideal place to enjoy the outdoors
Japanese garden

Another ideal place to enjoy the outdoors in the City of Buenos Aires. Of extreme beauty.
Built in 1967, on the occasion of the visit of the Emperor of Japan Akihito and his wife Michiko to our city.
Its gardens, bridges and lakes make this walk a dream place that manages to transport us to a rhythm of peace and tranquility.
Did you know that it is the largest Japanese-style garden outside of Japan?
Planetarium of Buenos Aires
The Planetarium of Buenos Aires is another of the most impressive constructions, not only because of its architecture, which is highly original, but also because it is located in a green environment that invites you to relax and spend time outdoors. Beautiful both day and night, it is a place to enjoy in all seasons of the year!
Forests and lakes around Palermo golf
Needless to say, the neighborhood of Palermo truly has the largest number of green spaces in the city of Buenos Aires. Its forests, lakes and recreation areas make it a perfect destination for lovers of sports and outdoor life.
The Mafalda School Square
image.png

Plaza Mafalda is located in the heart of the Colegiales neighborhood and pays homage to the Argentine cartoonist Quino. It is a place that brings together the residents of the neighborhood, young and old, who come to walk, drink mate or enjoy their games. It is an excellent starting point to make the tour in search of the best works of urban art in Colegiales
France Square
Although it is popularly known as Plaza Francia, this great green lung in the Recoleta neighborhood is actually called Plaza Intendente Alvear.
It is an ideal walk to walk in the open air through Buenos Aires and visit the most characteristic places of this charming neighborhood of Buenos Aires.
The Basilica Nuestra Señora del Pilar, the Recoleta Cemetery, the Recoleta Cultural Center, the Faculty of Law, the National Museum of Fine Arts, the Palais de Grace Museum and the La Biela Confectionery, for example, are not to be missed.
United Nations Square and the Floralis Generica
For its part, visiting the United Nations Square and its sculpture of the Floralis Generica is another beautiful green circuit through Buenos Aires.
This city property invites you to skate around, ride a bike, walk its trails or simply rest alone or in the company of friends.
The Arenales Square of Villa Devoto
Plaza Arenales, popularly known as Plaza Devoto and located in the Villa Devoto neighborhood, is also an important meeting place to practice sports, meet friends or enjoy the surrounding restaurants or bars. Without a doubt, it is a lively and relaxed area at the same time.
Plaza San Martín, the green heart of the Retiro neighborhood
image.png

Clearly, this important green space is another thing to see in the Retiro neighborhood. In addition, it is one of the oldest squares in the city.
Surrounded by palaces, 5-star hotels and buildings full of legends, it is clearly a fundamental place to visit in Buenos Aires.
Puerto Madero and its contributions to outdoor circuits in Buenos Aires
For its part, the newest neighborhood in the city and its green spaces pay homage to the great Argentine women in its streets and parks. That is why we cannot fail to mention Parque Mujeres Argentinas and Parque Micaela Bastidas as good leisure spots to visit outdoors, play sports and, why not, have fun with their urban art murals.
Options for Buenos Aires boys
The Children’s Park and the City Park are two places located diametrically opposite each other (one in the extreme north and the other in the south of the city) that are perfect for visiting with the family and ensuring that children have open spaces of relaxation and enjoyment.
Other important green lungs in Buenos Aires
In any case, I cannot fail to mention Rivadavia Park, Lezama Park or Sarmiento Park, all of which are extremely important places to enjoy the city in the heat of the sun.
