The Chief of Staff, Guillermo Francos, referred to this year’s legislative elections and assured that “all the polls say” that La Libertad Avanza (LLA) will beat Peronism, no matter how much Cristina Kirchner is a candidate. In addition, he maintained that support for President Javier Milei will be “even greater” than in the last elections.
The official indicated that the Government is “starting to talk” with other benches to “see if we can raise the issues that we have sent to extraordinary (sessions),” which became official this Monday.
One of the projects to be discussed will be the Clean Record, although he maintained that “it is not intended to try to eliminate the possibility of competition” of the former president.
“We are going to present a project that is built on the basis of the previous one, but with some improvements. We did not want it to be used to say that we want to exclude someone in particular, that was not the intention. The exclusion, if there is no sanctioned law, would have to be by popular vote,” explained in dialogue with Radio La Red.
Regarding a possible victory by the ruling party against Cristina, Francos stated that “all the surveys say that,” although “we will have to see later.”
“I have the feeling that the support that President Milei has after one year in office is very important, very strong. And since we believe that the second year is going to be even better, with economic growth and a noticeable drop in inflation, I suppose that will generate even greater support,” he emphasized.
“I am sure that LLA is going to obtain very great support in the elections and that It will make us go from a block of 38 national deputies and 6 senators to a much broader participation. Surely we will be able to address the reforms that we believe have to be made in the next stages,” he analyzed.
In that sense, he denied that LLA had put “a handbrake” on an eventual agreement with the PRO. “There is a space to work together, as we have been doing in the legislative area with the PRO and also with many sectors of radicalism; then we must seek agreements,” he noted.
Finally, Francos stated that “the vocation” of Milei and Mauricio Macri “is to seek the necessary mechanisms for a common proposal that is not only electoral, but is a vision of Argentina.” “I hope we can reach an understanding,” he concluded.
Guillermo Francos did not rule out an electoral pact with the PRO: “We can reach an agreement on everything”
The Chief of Staff, Guillermo Francos, expressed optimism about the possibility of an electoral agreement between the PRO and La Libertad Avanza (LLA) with a view to this year’s legislative elections. In addition, he stressed that he considers the former president “a good candidate.”
“It is possible to reach an agreement on all aspects. When there is agreement in objectives, common points can be found; “Everything depends on the breadth and greatness of the sectors interested in achieving this understanding,” he stated in an interview with Radio Rivadavia.
Franco stressed that, although it is not a simple task, it is not impossible if the parties involved prioritize a shared vision of Argentina’s problems over personal or party interests. “There are many factors to consider, but with greatness and a common approach, the agreement is feasible,” he concluded.
“The President made a open call to reach an agreement and win the elections. In response, Macri expressed his willingness and suggested the creation of a working table. There are many issues that we must address with the PRO and the UCR; “We have already worked together in Congress to achieve the approval of important laws,” recalled the La Libertad Avanza official. Furthermore, he emphasized: “It is not just about an electoral agreement, but about defining the necessary issues so that freedoms are the central system of Argentina.”
