Meghan and Harry visited a charity after the fires in LA. US actress Justine Bateman sees this critically.
Duchess Meghan (43) and Prince Harry (40) showed their support for those affected by the fire disaster in California last Friday (January 10th). The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who live about 90 miles north of Los Angeles, visited the World Central Kitchen charity in Pasadena, according to People magazine. There they are said to have helped distribute food and supplies to victims of the fires. US actress and filmmaker Justine Bateman (58) is angry about the couple’s relief effort, which was shown in videos and photos in the media – and vented this anger on X at the weekend.
Criticism of “photo shoot”
The sister of actor Jason Bateman (55), who shows a clip of the visit, wrote on the platform: “Meghan Markle and Harry are no better than ambulance chasers. What a disgusting ‘photo op’.” The actress, who became known through the television series “Family Ties”, 1982 to 1989 and was then seen in series such as “Desperate Housewives” and “Private Practice”, also wrote in her angry X post: ” Are they ‘visiting the damage’? Are they politicians? They don’t live here; they are disaster tourists.”
However, local people were impressed by the royal visit. “They are great people,” Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo said after meeting Harry and Meghan. “They are great individuals and they show a big heart to come here and meet with the first responders and the people affected.”
According to People, Meghan and Harry also donated money to the organization they visited through their Archewell Foundation. The Sussexes also shared a call for help and links to various aid organizations on their foundation’s website. It was also known that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan helped in their private lives and apparently welcomed friends into their property in Montecito, which was spared from the devastating fires around Los Angeles.
