The Grammys are scheduled to take place in Los Angeles despite the fires. This was announced by the responsible Recording Academy.
This year’s Grammy Awards are scheduled to take place as planned on February 2nd at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles (live on CBS and Paramount+). The CEO and the chairwoman of the responsible Recording Academy announced this in a message to the Academy members.
“Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles,” said Harvey Mason Jr. (56) and Tammy Hurt (60) in their statement. “This city is our home, and we mourn the loss of life and the destruction it has suffered in recent days.” In close coordination with local authorities to ensure public safety and the responsible use of the region’s resources, it has been decided that the 67th Grammy Awards will take place as planned on February 2nd on CBS.
“This year’s show, however, will have a new purpose: to raise additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts and to honor the courage and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours,” the statement said further. In difficult times, music has the power to “heal, comfort and unite like nothing else.”
In response to the crisis, the Recording Academy and the nonprofit organization MusiCares launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort last week with an initial donation of $1 million to support affected musicians. Thanks to additional donations, more than two million dollars in emergency aid have already been distributed.
Beyoncé as favorite
The nominees for the 2025 Grammy Awards were announced at the beginning of November 2024. The US superstar Beyoncé (43), who celebrated success with his country album “Cowboy Carter”, was recognized with a nomination in eleven categories. This is the largest number of nominations the musician has received in a single year to date. The singer could be honored in the “Recording of the Year” and “Song of the Year” categories for “Texas Hold’em,” among others. “Cowboy Carter” is also nominated for “Album of the Year,” so she could finally win a trophy in that category.
