Eva Longoria has announced she will donate $1 million to Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts. The money comes from Jeff Bezos.
Eva Longoria (49) wants to help after the devastating wildfires in Southern California. The actress has now announced that her foundation, the Eva Longoria Foundation, will donate one million dollars to forest fire relief. The money comes from the $50 million Courage and Civility Award, which Longoria received last year from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos (61).
The actress’ generous donation will go to the forest fire relief efforts of former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro’s Latino Community Foundation and the California Community Foundation. Both groups work with regional organizations that are “deeply embedded in communities and understand their needs.”
Several forest fires have been raging in the Los Angeles area since January 7th. Hundreds of thousands of people had to evacuate their homes, thousands of homes were destroyed and entire neighborhoods burned down in the Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Pasadena and Altadena areas. A total of 24 people have died in the fires so far.
Money comes from Jeff Bezos
In March 2024, Eva Longoria received the $50 million Courage and Civility Award from billionaire and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, which he has been awarding since 2021 to people who make a significant contribution to society.
According to Deadline, Longoria will also travel to Los Angeles this week to volunteer with the Global Empowerment Mission and visit the World Central Kitchen drop-in center near the Eaton Fire. The actress had already donated $50,000 to an organization that supports frontline workers, farm workers, day laborers and families particularly affected by the fires.
